Can you hear me now? Hearing testing – at your service

Could you name the most common work-related illness? If you were to guess a slip or fall, you would be wrong. Of all work-related illnesses, hearing loss is the most common. Noise is a by-product of most industrial processes, making it one of the most pervasive occupational health problems.

Did you know that within every industry sector, there are workers at risk for work-related hearing loss? According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), approximately 18% of all manufacturing workers have hearing difficulty. Hearing loss related to noise exposure at work can be temporary or permanent. The CDC also notes the effect of hearing loss – not only does it damage a workers’ quality of life, occupational hearing loss carries a high economic price to society.

It’s up to employers to ensure they have a hearing conservation program in place to protect employees. What exactly does a hearing conservation program entail?

The physicians at OHC can manage hearing conservation programs to meet OSHA requirements that audio testing be available to all employees whose exposures equal or exceed an 8-hour time-weighted average of 85 decibels. This involves our doctors conducting audiogram testings for shifts as part of this service.

The best part of it all? WE COME TO YOU.

The OHC on site truck has four audio booths to conduct testing at your workplace and make recommendations to enhance your current employee healthcare program. While on site, we can also conduct other important testing services, such as random drug screens, wellness exams, vaccinations, and more!
